Dan & Yuka got married in a lovely afternoon ceremony at Ray’s Northwest Room in Shilshole. They had an intimate group of their closest family and friends around them. The weather was quite typical of Seattle with a white “lightbox” sky. Ray’s really affords the opportunity for wonderful naturally lit, candid photography with it’s outdoor patio area in addition to its fabulous views of the Sound. I love an afternoon wedding because the sun never goes down and the light is plentiful. One addition to Ray’s that was new to me this year was their parlor room. I was impressed with its spaciousness and style. It proved a great spot for getting ready photos of Yuka. The dress suited her elegance but then she finished off her great look with a pair of gorgeous Jimmy Choos and gobs of pearls. Dan was dazzled and relieved all at once when she came up to see him for first look. You could feel the tension melt away. It is one of my favorite moments when bride and groom stop and connect to share an intimate conversation, some laughs and hugs before the crowd descends. It may well be their only chance all day to be alone, ironically.
